Certification Learning Outcomes

Systems and evidence-based practices that are poorly implemented – or not implemented at all – do not produce the expected benefits. This training provides the knowledge, skills, and tools to successfully implement new behaviors and evidence-based practices in the participants’ organizations. Upon receiving this certification, participants will develop the skills to:

  • Identify appropriate and feasible evidence-based practices (EBPs) that address the identified gaps between the actual and desired performance

  • Persuasively introduce new EBPs in the form of new behaviors

  • Design the work environment to reinforce the behaviors linked to your improvement goal

  • Overcome common implementation barriers

  • Use data to track the implementation process and improve future implementations

  • Advocate the importance of adopting a systematic approach to implementation in improvement activities

Why is Implementation so Important?

About 1 out of 3 patients receive care that does not conform to current best practices. Most healthcare organizations have many ongoing projects, but few organizations are effective at implementing change and exemplifying the Quadruple Aim. Change fatigue (the mental and emotional exhaustion that comes from too many changes being implemented over an extended period) is pervasive and contributes to burnout. Implementation tools efficiently identify the best strategies to change behavior and design systems of care that support (rather than impede) excellence. Effective implementation enables teams to reduce program costs, improve health outcomes, decrease health disparities and promote wellbeing in the workplace.

Who Should Consider Certification?

This training is for anyone involved in improvement initiatives! This may include nurses, project managers, quality improvement professionals, safety professionals, operations leaders, directors, managers, clinical and administrative leaders, customer service leaders, improvement consultants, business analysts, and physicians to name a few.
